Campobello Island

Discover the magic of Campobello Island, famous for being the beloved isle of late U. S. President, Franklin D. Roosevelt. The 34-room Roosevelt Cottage Museum is a focal point of Roosevelt Campobello International Park.

Nature lovers will be delighted to discover the park’s beautiful windswept beaches, spruce and fir forests, salt marshes and sphagnum bogs. Nature flourishes in the forests and meadows, filling them with wildflowers, wild berries and shrubs. The sun and moon’s gravitational attraction on the ocean causes the tides to rise and cover the beaches with one million tonnes of seawater as it flows in and out during one cycle.

Hiking trails provide sightings of red squirrel and snowshoe hare, white-tailed deer, moose and coyotes. Harbour seals, waterfowl, gulls, eagles, harbour porpoises and whales can be seen from many vantage points in the park.

Herring Cove Provincial Park features camping, RV sites, a challenging 9-hole golf course, a restaurant and pro shop. The ferry service to Deer Island and Eastport, Maine offers scenic day trips.

Head Harbour Light Station is one of the oldest lighthouses in Canada and is one of the best land-based whale-watching spots in the region. The station is accessible by foot at low tide.

The island offers picnic areas, hiking trails, whale-watching and deep-sea fishing adventures, art instruction, birdwatching and more! With its stunning vistas of magnificent beaches, this incredible island is a tranquil retreat for everybody to enjoy.

Ocean-front accommodations provide incredible views of the coastline, and delicious restaurants offer succulent seafood from the cold waters of the bay. Charming gift shops and art galleries are the perfect place to find a special memento of your time on the island.

Campobello is nature’s ultimate bouquet and offers warm Maritime hospitality. Campobello is a special place, never to be forgotten.
